Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Takes 3-2, 2-1 Wins at Oklahoma Christian

UTPB baseball came from behind two different times Friday afternoon to earn a pair of 3-2 and 2-1 road wins against Oklahoma Christian at Dobson Field in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Trailing 1-0 after the Eagles scored in the bottom of the 5th, Matt Reyes tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the sixth when he scored on a wild pitch. The Falcons put together a big inning with two more timely hits as David Lee doubled to right to drive in Ryan Souza and a Daniel Andrade single into center brought home Lee.

OCU added a run in the top of the seventh in its last chance to extend the game,  but left the tying run stuck on second as Brooks Eady earned his second save of the year with a ground out to third to wrap up the victory.

Lance Fairchild went 5.2 innings in improving to 3-2 on the season, giving up one run off of seven hits and four walks with two strikeouts.

Andrade led the Falcons with a pair of hits and the top three in the batting lineup (Reyes, Souza, Lee) each scored in the game.

Game two of the afternoon played out in similar fashion as Oklahoma Christian broke into a scoreless game with the first run on a base hit to right field in the bottom of the seventh.

UTPB again wasted little time in responding, tying the game at 1-1 when Bryan Van Vranken grounded out to third as Reyes came in on the play. Lee later scored in the inning when Kevin Barnes was able to reach base on an error at short that gave the Falcons a 2-1 lead.

The Falcons stranded three Eagles in the final two innings, including a pair that walked with two outs in the bottom of the ninth before getting the last out of the game on a foul out to right.

Brad Paramapoonya went seven innings in getting his fifth win of the season. He allowed six hits and a pair of walks with one earned run and four strikeouts. Eady made his second appearance of the day, giving up a walk, and Nolan Schattel earned his fourth save of the season in pitching a scoreless ninth.

The Falcons go for the series sweep Saturday afternoon when the two teams meet to wrap up the weekend at noon.
