Softball Starts Final Weekend with Pair of Losses to OPSU

UTPB softball opened up its final three games of the 2015 season with a pair of 4-1 and 13-3 defeats against Oklahoma Panhandle State Friday  night at the UTPB Softball Field in Odessa.

OPSU got off to a strong start in the opener, scoring three in the first. Aggie starting pitcher Samantha Arledge helped her own cause, driving in two of the runs on a double.

Following a solo shot home run in the sixth, the Falcons got on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the frame when Mallory Hall singled into right to drive in Kimberlie Herrra.

Oklahoma Panhandle State controlled game two, scoring five runs in two different innings in the 10-run win.

The Falcons got their first of game two when Miley McKee singled to center to drive Ashlynn Williams

Chelsae Farries scored in the fourth from third on a delayed steal, and Miley McKee added a third run later in the inning when Herrera reached on a bunt single to first.

The teams close out the 2015 season Saturday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for noon. The Falcons will honor seniors Niki DiSera and Holly Herrington in a postgame ceremony immediately following the game.
