UTPB Volleyball ended its home season on a high note, sweeping St. Edward's and University of the Southwest 3-0 each to pick up their second and third consecutive wins Saturday as the Falcons wrapped up their home schedule with a 25-23, 25-16, 25-18 win against the Hilltoppers and a 25-16, 25-18, 25-21 win against the Mustangs.
Limiting errors was huge for the Falcons in picking up their second straight conference victory, committing just 12 errors on the day to 35 for St. Edward's while hitting .215 as a team to .061 for the Hilltoppers.
Annelise Sanchez continued to dominate the middle, racking up nine blocks in just three sets.
Caitlyn Guajardo once again led the Falcons in kills, piling up 10 on the day.
Marina Salazar led UTPB with 15 digs and
Ariana Gallardo collected 16 assists.
Guajardo was strong again in the three-set victory against University of the Southwest, leading the UTPB offensive effort with 13 kills.
Hannah Rebb recorded 12 winners on 21 attempts with just two errors to hit .476 in the second match of the day.
Salazar and Gallardo led the Falcons again respectively in digs and assists, Salazar with 14 digs and Gallardo with 22 assists.
Before the second match, UTPB recognized seniors Gallardo, Sanchez, Reb,
Erica Poe, Salazar and
Morgann Davis as their played in their last home match of their UTPB careers.
The Falcons look to end the 2015 season on a four-game win streak next weekend, traveling to Oklahoma Panhandle State for their final game of the year at 12 p.m. Saturday.
