UTPB men's and women's swimming held their first home event of 2015 Friday afternoon, welcoming Wayland Baptist to the UTPB Swimming Pool. The Falcon women picked up a 112 - 85 victory while the men suffered a one point, 103-102 defeat to the Pioneers.
Two different women picked up a pair of individual wins for UTPB.
Amanda Alspaugh took first with a winning time of 11:20.50 in the 1,000 freestyle and won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.21.
Peyton Slater also took first place in two different events, winning the 200 freestyle in 2:01.43 and finishing the 500 freestyle in 5:28.97. Sammi Strohmeyer added a win in the 200 IM by pacing the field in 2:18.03, and
Ally Padilla had a win in the 100 freestyle in 56.37. The relay team of Slater,
Samantha Chin, Padilla and
Jennifer Long won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:29.61.
Mason Mitchell had two different wins for the men's team, winning the 200 freestyle in 1:48.85 and the 500 freestyle in 5:56.06.
Nathan Pantalion had a victory in the 200 IM, winning in 2:02.74. The relay team of Mitchell,
Jax Pounds,
Brandon Hay and
Nolan Hines won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:29.61.
The Falcons are back in the water next in two weeks, swimming against Southwestern in Georgetown.
