Rogers State scored the game-winning basket with 20 seconds remaining Saturday afternoon, sending UTPB women's basketball to a 66-64 defeat at the Claremore Expo Center in Claremore, Okla.
The Falcons enjoyed a double-digit lead in the first half, elevating a two-point advantage to a 26-14 lead on an 11-1 run that included a trio of 3-pointers from 
Brianna Jones. Rogers State scored the final five points of the first half, but the Falcons carried a 30-26 lead into halftime.
UTPB rallied in the second half when the Hillcats took a 48-47 lead, scoring the next eight points on a three from 
Giselle Loya, basket in the paint from 
Danielle Wilson and three at the line from 
Valerie Barriga to go back on top 55-48.
Rogers State came back with eight straight points of its own to go back ahead 56-55 with 3:29 remaining.
The Falcons hit two shots in the final minute to give them the lead, a 3-pointer from Loya to go on top 62-61 with 51 seconds remaining and a basket from 
Myangel Johnson with just 34 seconds left to go back ahead 64-63 before RSU scored the final three points of the day.
Jones led the Falcons with 15 points on the afternoon, hitting 5-of-10 from 3-point range as all five starters scored in double figures. Barriga and Wilson added 11 points as Loya and Johnson each scored 10.
Breanna Burford led all players with 20 points for Rogers State while Mikaila Newton added 15 points.
UTPB is back at home Saturday afternoon, hosting St. Edward's at 1 p.m. on February 7.
