Box Score UTPB women's basketball struggled from the field Thursday night, dropping an 85-54 Heartland Conference road contest against Arkansas Fort Smith at the Stubblefield Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
UAFS got off to quick start, scoring the first six points of the night.
Valerie Barriga hit a three to get back within three points, but UTPB was never able to get closer over the remainder of the contest.
The Lions led by double-digits for most of the first half, eventually stretching their lead out to as many as 23 points before going into halftime ahead 45-27.
UAFS kept the offensive pressure up after halftime with a 20-4 run in the first seven minutes of the second half to take a 65-31 lead.
Jasmine Brainard led all players with 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting for UAFS while Maya Perry hit 8-of-9 baskets on the night to score 20 off the bench.
Barriga paced the Falcons offense with 14 on the night.
Brianna Jones added 11 points for UTPB.
