UTPB men's swimming picked up a pair of wins and women's swimming earned a victory as the Falcons hit the water for the first time in 2015, swimming against Southwestern and McMurry Friday night in Abilene, Texas.
The Falcon men earned a 155-115 win against Southwestern and defeated McMurry 223-37, while the women defeated McMurry 163-68 and lost to Southwestern 144-135.
The UTPB men had 11 total first-place finishes on the evening as four different individuals each won a pair of events.
Alex Ruata finished first in the 100 breaststroke (58.42) and the 200 breaststroke (2:11.59).
Kyle Marshall won the 200 freestyle (1:48.09) and the 100 freestyle (48.69).
Jack Maloy took first in the 100 backstroke (54.02) and the 100 butterfly (53.79).
David de Benito Cabezas won both the 200 butterfly (1:59.80) and the 500 freestyle (5:00.73. UTPB also received wins from
Johan Jonsson in the 1,000 freestyle (10:17.29) and finished first in the 200 Medley relay (1:37.99) and 800 freestyle relay (7:15.50).
Peyton Slater and
Amanda Alspaugh headlined first-place finishers for the UTPB women as each took first in three different events. Slater won the 200 freestyle (1:59.15), 100 freestyle (54.86), and 500 freestyle (5:33.62), while Alspaugh won the 1,000 freestyle (11:12.77), 200 butterfly (2:13.85) and 100 butterfly (1:00.68) Sammi Strohmeyer picked up a victory in the 200 IM with a time of 2:21.10, and the 800 freestyle relay team won in 8:09.23.
The Falcons are back in action Saturday in Midland, taking on Wayland Baptist at 5 p.m.
