Box Score UTPB volleyball came back with a fourth set victory to even its match with Dallas Baptist at 2-2 and force a fifth and final set, but the Lady Patriots pulled out a 3-2 win in a 22-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 10-15 defeat of the Falcons Thursday night in Dallas, Texas.
Trailing 2-1 through three sets, UTPB used a late run in a tightly contested fourth set to send the match to a fifth. The Falcons led early on 4-2 behind kills from
Ryley Carman and
Morgann Davis sandwiched around a solo block from Davis.
Trailing later 14-16 in the set, UTPB started to make its run, scoring four in a row to hold an 18-16. Following a single point on a kill by DBU, UTPB scored the next thee points on a kill by
Annelise Sanchez and two from
Hannah Rebb.
The Falcons put the fourth set away with three points to go on top 24-19, and after DBU cut the lead down to 24-23, won the fourth on a ball-handling error to take the fourth 25-23.
Dallas Baptist came out hot in set five, scoring the first four points all on kills. UTPB scored the next two points to cut the advantage in half but was never able to recover, as the Lady Patriots never led by fewer than three points before claiming the five-set win.
Hannah Rebb was one of three Falcons to record double digit kills, leading the team for the first time this season with 16 while Carman added 15 and
Annelise Sanchez tallied 12.
Ariana Gallardo had a season-high 51 assists and
Taylor Harmon led five players with at least 11 digs with 22 on the evening.
The Falcons continue a four-day, four game road trip Friday night, taking on Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Ark., at 6 p.m.
