Box Score UTPB junior
Nathan Cotterell scored his first two goals of the season and carried men's soccer to a 2-1 overtime victory Friday afternoon against Adams State in Alamosa, Colo.
Cotterell's second goal of the day came off an assist from
Adan Ortiz in the 96th minute on the first shot for either team in the sudden-death period.
The junior forward, ranked second in the Heartland Conference last season with 15 goals, scored his first of the season earlier in the game at 23:31 of the first half to put the Falcons on top 1-0.
UTPB goalkeeper
Eric Beltran came just 10 seconds from his first shutout of the season when Adams State came up with the game-tying goal with just seconds to spare in regulation on a header by Ethan Jackson at 89:50. Beltran came up big in net for the Falcons, making 10 saves on 11 shots-on-goal by the Grizzlies.
Cotterell is the second Falcon in two games to find the back of the net twice, follwing
Gary Willis' two-goal performance in the season-opener against University of the Southwest.
UTPB continues road play in Colorado this weekend, facing Colorado State-Pueblo Sunday afternoon.
