McMurry held UTPB Baseball to a lone run in each game, defeating the Falcons 8-1 and 5-1 Friday afternoon in a pair of Heartland Conference contests at Roden Field in Odessa.
The War Hawks scored first in the top of the second, taking advantage of a two-out error. They added a second run in the fourth behind two more errors to lead 2-0.
Andrew Grifol doubled with one out in the top of the fourth and scored two batters later on a single by
Trey Cochran to pull UTPB within a run at 2-1.
McMurry added a pair on an RBI triple by Kyle Sargent and tallied a second run when he scored on a sac fly for a 4-1 lead.
The War Hawks added four runs to their total off of four hits and an error in the top of the seventh.
McMurry also scored first in game two, taking a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the fourth on an RBI double by Eric Moritz in the bottom of the fourth.
The War Hawks added a single run in each of the sixth through ninth innings to go ahead 5-0.

Michael Resnick as McMurry picked up a force out at second with the bases loaded.
The teams are back in action Saturday afternoon, playing one final conference game before concluding the weekend with a non-conference tilt. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
