UTPB Women's Basketball closed out the 2013-14 season Saturday afternoon by sending seniors
Jocelyn Cook and
Zeslie Johnson out with a victory, closing out a 70-57 win at home over McMurry.
Valerie Barriga led all Falcons with 24 points, hitting 16-of-19 attempts at the foul line on the day, both season-highs. Cook added 14 points and six rebounds while
Keyondra White contribued 10 points off the bench.
UTPB fell behind early on, trailing by five points four and a half minutes into the game, but came back at the end of the first half to score the final four points of the first on baskets by Cook and White to lead 35-31 at the half.
The Falcons were unable to shake the War Hawks early on in the second, but built up an eight-point lead as Barriga scored 14-straight points for the team over five minutes and the team went on top by 10 on a basket by
Brianna Jones to lead 54-44 with 7:48 to play.
McMurry got within five over the last eight minutes but the Falcons pushed the lead back out to 15 points before locking up the 13-point win.
Keshia Collins led all players in scoring with 31 points for the War Hawks.
