3/1/2014 8:51:00 PM

UTPB Baseball scored the first two runs of the game, but St. Edward's came back with 12 of the final 13 as the Hilltoppers took the series win with a 12-3 win Saturday afternoon at Roden Field in Odessa.

The Falcons took advantage of a pair of walks to lead off their first time at the plate in the bottom of the first and a Brian Brademan single to score twice in the frame. Neil Madsen scored on a double play that resulted in the first two outs of the inning and Andrew Grifol came home from third on a wild pitch to put UTPB on top 2-0.

St. Edward's stayed scoreless until the top of the fourth, scoring three runs off of a pair of base hits to go on top by a run.

The Hilltoppers expanded the advantage with four more runs off of four hits in the fifth to lead 7-2.

Grifol led off the bottom of the fifth with a homer to close the Falcons within four, but St. Edward's exploded with five runs in the top of the ninth to close out a nine-run win.

Grifol led the Falcons on offense with a pair of runs off of two hits with the team's lone RBI on the day.

The Falcons hit the road for the first time in Heartland Conference play next weekend, traveling to Wichita, Kan., for three games against Newman.
