Box Score UTPB men's soccer earned its first Heartland Conference victory of the season Satudray night, getting a pair of goals each from
Logan Sharp and
Nathan Cotterell in a 4-3 overtime win against Dallas Baptist in Dallas, Texas.
Cotterell added to his team-leading goal mark with his 12th of the season at 13:50 to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead early in the first.
Sharp came up with his first of the night at 24:40, finishing a cross from
Stephen Okoro to increase the lead to 2-0.
He added his fourth of the season seven minutes into the second half, heading in a free kick from
Caio Toth for a 3-0 advantage.
Dallas Baptist erased the UTPB lead in a span of six minutes, getting goals from Nathan McBride, Cameron Gilbert and
David Balyeat to tie the game at 3-3 in the 79th minute.
Heading to overtime, Cotterell picked up a pass from Adan Ortiz and broke away from the DBU defense, shooting past the keeper for his 13th of the season to wrap up the extra-time winner.
UTPB held a 20-15 shot advantage on the evening and the Falcons put seven shots on net to five for the Patriots.
The Falcons wrap up their 2014 season Monday afternoon with a 2:30 p.m. contest at Oklahoma Christian.
