Volleyball Goes Down 3-0 at Lubbock Christian

Box Score UTPB volleyball suffered a defeat in straight sets Saturday afternoon, falling 17-25, 19-25, 13-25 on the road at Lubbock Christian in Lubbock, Texas.

The Falcons stayed around a point behind the Lady Chaps for much of the first set until UTPB was down 15-14. Lubbock Christian then went on a 10-3 run to take the first set by eight points.

UTPB started off strong in the second, taking a 4-1 lead behind kills from Rachel Dixon and Ryley Carman and a block by Dixon and Hannah Rebb. A nine point rally turned a 5-2 Falcon lead into an 11-5 lead for LCU. UTPB responded by scoreing the next five points to trail 11-10 but soon found itself trailing by five at 15-10. The Falcons were able to catch up within a point behind three straight to trail 18-17, but Lubbock Christian controlled the final moments of the set to take a 25-19 win. 

Lubbock Christian broke a 7-7 tie in the third set by scoring eight of nine points to hold a 15-8 advantage and went on to win the third 25-13.

Morgann Davis led the Falcons with 10 kills on the afternoon. Ariana Gallardo had a team high 32 assists, and Marina Salazar led the team with 16 digs.

The Falcons are back home for the final time in 2014 this week, hosting Univeristy of the Southwest Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
