10/20/2014 8:23:00 PM

Box Score UTPB men's soccer played one of its most exciting games of the season Monday afternoon, nearly engineering a comeback after falling behind 6-0 before dropping a 7-5 decision against Rogers State in Heartland Conference action.

Rogers State scored the first six of the day, all coming in just over 18 minutes by six different players. Edward Hubbard, Danko Kenjic, Caleb Pitts, Devin Zvosec, Austin Sexton and Necas Collins each found the back of the net before the end of the 22nd minute to give Rogers State what looked to be an insurmountable 6-0 advantage.

Nathan Cotterell grabbed one back before halftime, scoring his team-leading 11th goal of the season early in the 27th when he dribbled down the middle and shot underneath the goalkeeper for the team's first of the day.

The Falcons trailed by four early in the second when they got some help from Rogers State on an own goal as an errant header intended for the keeper instead went into the Hillcats own net.

47 seconds later, BJ Rodrick scored his first on a blast from 35 yards out straight into the top of the net for the team's third straight goal at 47:50.

Trailing 6-3, Gary Willis put away a penalty shot to cut the lead to two after Caio Toth was kicked up high in the box for a foul.

Sergio Enriquez brought the Falcons back to within a single goal in the 79th, cleaning up a rebounded shot from Nathan Cotterell that was loose in the right side of the box for his first of the season.

Rogers State cememted the win late in the game when Austin Sexton became the first player to score for the second time on the day at 87:12 for the final goal of the day.

The Falcons are back at home for the final time this year to start next week, hosting St. Edward's Monday, October 27 at 2:30 p.m.
