Box Score Nathan Cotterell scored three times and
BJ Rodrick found the net for the first time on the season but the UTPB men's soccer team gave up three unanswered goals in a 6-4 loss to Texas A&M International Monday afternoon in Laredo.
Cotterell scored his first hat trick of the year in the first 31 minutes of the game, needing just 1:59 to put the Falcons in the lead 1-0 from 10 yards out in the middle of the box.
After Texas A&M International responded with a goal a little over four minutes later by Jovany Macias, Cotterell connected from 35 yards out on a free kick to put the Falcons back in the lead 2-1.
Macias added his second of the day on a shot from close distance at 19:30 for his second tying goal, but Cotterell took a long run and shot to the left side of the net at 30:01 for his third of the day to put the Falcons back in the lead 3-2.
Juan Ramirez put in a loose ball off of a corner for the Dustdevils almost two minutes after half time to tie the game for the third time at 3-3, but
BJ Rodrick responded to give the Falcons their fourth lead of the afternoon by cleaning up a loose ball in the box at 48:53 of the second.
The Dustdevils came back strong over the next five minutes as Ryan Hodgson tied the game at 4-4 from eight yards out at 51:16 and Macias got his hat trick at 54:09 to give TAMIU its first lead of the day.
Eduardo Gonzalez gave the Dustdevils and insurance goal, putting Texas A&M International ahead 6-4 at 85:26.
UTPB is back at home this Thursday, hosting West Texas A&M in non-conference action at 7 p.m.
