UTPB women's basketball led coast-to-coast Thursday night, taking a 74-59 victory on the road at Oklahoma Panhandle State in Goodwell, Okla.
Valerie Barriga got the UTPB offense running with a 3-pointer on the opening possession of the game,
Danielle Wilson followed with a layup the next time down the court and Barriga added a free throw a possession later to give the Falcons a quick 6-0 lead just 1:47 into the game.
They never trailed in the game as Panhandle got within two points at 12:32 of the first, but the Falcons built the lead back up quickly on back-to-back threes from
Keyondra White and
Giselle Loya to go on top 21-13 at 10:27 of the first.
UTPB led by as many as 14 points with baskets by
Brianna Jones,
Jocelyn Cook and
Zeslie Johnson as part of a 6-0 run late in the half, and the team went into halftime with a double-digit 35-25 lead.
The Falcons kept the lead above 10 the entirety of the second half and went ahead by a game-best 19 points on the second of two straight 3-pointers from Loya in controling the game after halftime in the 15-point win.
Barriga recorded her third double-double in four games to lead the Falcons with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Loya added 16 points with four 3-pointers and White chipped in 10 points with a team-best five assists.
Sarah Johnson led all players with 25 points for the Aggies.
UTPB closes out its four-game road trip Saturday, taking on Newman at 1 p.m. in Wichita, Kan.
