The University of Texas of the Permian Basin had no answers for Wayland Baptist Tuesday night, giving up three goals in the first half in an eventual 4-0 loss on the road in Plainview, Texas.
The Pioneers scored their first of the night in the 12th minute on a header by David Neuberth for his fifth goal of the season.
Wayland Baptist built a three goal lead behind a pair of goals from Juan Sanchez and Vitalis Atemafac just two minutes apart at 32:03 and 34:04 of the first half to go into halftime holding a 3-0 advantage.
Wayland added to its total coming out of the half as Travis Somersall added to the Pioneers' total with a strike at 46:03 in what proved to be the game's final score.
Wayland Baptist out-shot the Falcons 22-8 on the night, getting 11 shots on goal to five from UTPB.
The Falcons remain on the road this week, traveling to San Antonio for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest Thursday afternoon against fellow Heartland Conference member St. Mary's. Thursday's game will be played at the Our Lady of the Lake soccer field in San Antonio.
