The University of Texas of the Permian Basin cut into a 3-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, but those proved to be the final runs for either side on the day as the Falcons dropped the third game of the three game series 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Crowder Field in Fort Smith, Ark.

The Lions scored in the bottom of the first, singling into center with two outs for the game's first run.

UAFS added a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings to up its advantage to 3-0 through five.

The Falcons made it a one-run game in the top of the sixth as Brian Gustafson started out the inning with an infield single to short. A sacrifice bunt moved him into scoring position and he scored two batters later on a Ryne Head double to right center. Head came in a batter later on Neil Madsen's single before Madsen was called out trying to advance to second as the pitcher cut off the throw home to the plate.

Tyler Wilcox gave up two earned runs in a complete game outing, striking out six while allowing a pair of walks and nine hits in eight innings.

Madsen led the offense with two hits in four at bats, increasing his team-leading batting average to .345 on the season.
