The University of Texas of the Permian Basin softball team picked up a victory over nationally-ranked Abilene Christian Saturday afternoon, winning the second of two games 3-2 against #22 ACU. The Wildcats won the doubleheader opener 10-2 in six innings.

UTPB grabbed the lead right away in game two, plating a run as Cene Padilla led off the game with a single into left and moved to second on an Anna Hollingsworth walk. Padilla scored in the next at bat as Chelsey Morgan reached on an error and Hollingsworth was called out at second on the play.

Abilene Christian tied the game up in the bottom of the fifth, putting a runner on second with one out and leveling the score at 1-1 on an RBI single with two outs.

The Falcons got the lead back in the top of the sixth, scoring a pair as Taleas Marble singled to lead off the inning and Jackie Guzman was able to get to first on an error at third. A fielder's choice got Marble out at third on the force out for the innings first out, and following a strike out, Lesli Ericson doubled to the gap in right center to score Guzman and Kati Walker to take a 3-1 lead.

The insurance run came in handy as ACU scored one in the sixth after getting a lead off double and pulled to within one on a sac fly.

Megan Richards picked up with win, throwing the final two scoreless innings. She allowed a pair of hits while striking out one.

Abilene Christian put the opening game of the doubleheader out of reach early on, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first.

UTPB got its two runs in the second and third, scoring its first run on a single to center with two outs that scored Morgan from second.

The Falcons got another run with two outs in the third as Kara Isbel homered to right.
