Valerie Barriga led all players with 21 points, but the Falcons were out-scored by 11 points in the second half in suffering a 93-80 loss on the road at Arkansas-Fort Smith Saturday afternoon in Fort Smith, Ark.
Neither team was able to create separation in the first half as the game featured seven lead changes and was tied seven times in the opening 20 minutes.
The Falcons led early on by a 3-pointer from
Giselle Loya on the first shot of the game, and led for a majority of the first half and by as many as four at 25-21.
The Lions came back at the end of the half, scoring eight of the final 13 points to go into halftime with a two-point lead.
UAFS pulled away to start the second half, increasing its lead out to 17 points in the first seven minutes after halftime.
The Falcons got the lead under double digits towards the end of the game, cutting the advantage down to seven points on a 3-pointer by
Katreese Locket and a layup by
Keyondra White, but UAFS scored the final six points of the night in closing out the 13-point win.
White added 17 points to go with Barriga's 21, and Locket contributed 10 points.
Justyne Huber led the Lions with 20 points, while Chauntel Terry added 18 points in a reserve roll.
