The Univeristy of Texas of the Permian Basin men's soccer team looked ready to end the season on a high note, but Dallas Baptist scored a late equalizer in regulation in an eventual 1-1 tie Monday afternoon at the UTPB Soccer Field.
Logan Sharp broke a scoreless game in the 73rd minute, scoring his third goal of the season by connecting on a penalty kick that was issued when
Tyler Gibson was taken down from behind in the penalty box on a breakaway.
The Falcons were seconds away from earning the win until Rodrigo Barrientos tied the contest at 1-1 in the 90th minute on an assist from Riley Avery, scoring with 21 seconds remaining in the second half to force the game into overtime.
Dallas Baptist out-shot the Falcons 4-2 in the extra 20 minutes of action, taking the only two shots on goal in the overtime sessions.
The tie, UTPB's first of the season, leaves the Falcons at 8-9-1 to end the year with a 4-4-1 record in Heartland Conference action.
