UTPB men's basketball was unable to pick up its second win in five games against Cameron this season, falling 78-65 in its second of two games at the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Classic in Kingsville, Texas.
The Falcons trailed for the entirety of Saturday's game as the Lions scored on their first possession of the day and never looked back.
UTPB came back from trailing to close within a single point eight minutes into the game as a pair of
Dwayne Soders free throws were sandwiched between a three from
Thomas Feeney and a layup after a missed 3-pointer by Cameron to cut the score down to 13-12.
Cameron came back to push its lead back up to six, and the Lions kept the lead aroudn 10 points in the last five mintues of the half. Feeney hit a three on the Falcons final possession of the half to cut the advantage down to eight at 37-29 at the break.
The Falcons were unable to make much headway in the second half as the score hovered between 10-15 points for the last 10 minutes in the 13-point loss.
Soders led the Falcons in both points and rebounds, collecting his sixth double-double of the year in as many games with 17 points and 10 boards. Feeney hit three from downtown en route to scoring 15 on the night.
Anthony Dees hit 5-of-7 shots to add 14 points.
The Falcons return home next weekend, hosting Texas A&M - Kingsville for the 2013 home opener Saturday, Nov. 30 at 3 p.m.
