UTPB women's basketball fought to the final seconds for the second straight night, but were unable to come back from a last second basket as the Falcons lost 68-66 Saturday evening to Southern Nazarene in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Valerie Barriga hit the front end of a pair of free throws with 47 seconds left, UTPB grabbed the rebound as the second attempt missed, but
Giselle Loya's 3-pointer to take the lead missed with 28 seconds remaining.Â
Southern Nazarene grabbed possession, missed a basket with seven seconds remaining coming out of a time out, got their own rebound and Aminata Fall hit what proved to be the game-winning layup with :05 left on the clock.
Keyondra White's final second shot was off the mark to wrap up the two point loss.
UTPB took its first lead of the night 13-12 on a pair of free throws by
Katreese Locket seven minutes into the game.Â
Southern Nazarene was able to pull ahead by seven with just under four minutes left in the first half, but the Falcons rallied before halftime and scored the final eight points of the half, the last five by Barriga, to lead 32-31 at halftime.Â
UTPB got 3-pointer on the first possession out of halftime by Loya, a layup from
Danielle Wilson and another three by Loya to take its largest lead of the night at 40-32.
The Crimson Storm responded with five straight points of its own and two minutes later had the UTPB lead cut down to a single point.
SNU claimed the lead back on a three at 53-50 with 10:27 remaining, and it took UTPB tying the game three times before they were able to get back ahead by four points on a basket by Barriga and free throws from Wilson to lead 63-59.
Barriga led the Falcons in scoring for the second straight night with 15 points, while Locket and Loya each added 12.
Jocelyn Cook led UTPB with eight rebounds off the bench.Â
Fall led all scorers with 25 points and 12 rebounds, with Kristin Milster dropping in 20 points despite nine turnovers.
The Falcons get back on the court Tuesday night, traveling to Angelo State for a 7 p.m. tip.
