Keith Martin and
Dwayne Soders each scored 23 points Friday night as UTPB ran away with a 111-78 victory over Hillsdale Free Will Baptist in Laredo, Texas.
The outcome was never in question as the Falcons got off to a red-hot start, scoring the first 18 points of the game on 8-of-11 shooting in the first four minutes of the night.
UTPB stretched its lead out to as many as 24 points late in the first half before going into halftime leading by 18 at 47-29.
Hillsdale was able to pull within 11 in the early minutes of the second half, out-scoring UTPB 14-7 in the first four minutes after halftime. But the Falcons kept the offensive pressure up in the second, recovering to increase the lead to a game-high 36 points on a seven-point run late in the half before wrapping up the 33-point win.
Soders, averaging a team-high 21.3 points per game, recorded his third double-double in as many games with 10 rebounds to go with his 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting.
Martin's 23 points were a season-best to go with 10 rebounds on the night, the most he's had through the team's first three games this season.
Anthony Dees added 15 points, sinking all eight of his free-throw attempts as the Falcons' 75 percent shooting from the line was its best of the season.
Andre Reider contributed 12 points on perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field, and
Madison Turner and
Thomas Feeney each added 10 points.
The Falcons return to action in Laredo Saturday afternoon, taking on Arlington Baptist at 12 p.m.
