The University of Texas of the Permian Basin men's and women's swimming each opened up the 2013-14 season with a decisive victory in duals action against Wayland Baptist Sunday afternoon at the UTPB Pool, as the UTPB women won 132-36 and the UTPB men earned a 129-70 win.
"First, I'd like to thank Wayland Baptist for a great first meet," said first year head coach
Cameron Kainer. "It's very exciting to see another program out in West Texas and they turned a lot of heads. Coach Hannan has done a great job at WBU.Â
"Our team showed a lot of excitement and had some pretty good swims, for this time of the season. I was pleased with how our freshmen performed and stepped up in their first meet. The upperclassmen showed a lot of leadership and set a tone for what Falcon Pride is all about.Â
"We've got McMurry next in a week and a half and we've got some things to work on, but overall we had a great first meet and our coaching staff is excited about where our swimmers are headed. It's a long season, but I am very pleased with the shape and form our team has developed into this past month."
