10/19/2013 8:26:00 PM

Tyler Gibson scored an early first half equalizer and Rafael Borges got his first goal of the season, one that proved to hold on as the game-winner as the UTPB men's soccer team came from behind in a 2-1 win against Rogers State Saturday night in Claremore, Okla.

Borges tallied his first points of the season early in the second half, notching his first goal of the season to the back post at 58:38 to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.

The UTPB defense held off the Hillcats over the remainder of the second half, as goalkeeper Craig Branum was forced into action with a pair of saves off of headers in the final two minutes to keep the lead intact.

Rogers State  took the first lead of the game early in the first half, jumping ahead on a goal by Danko Kenjic at 9:40.

Gibson evened the score at 1-1 a little over three minutes later, tying the game at 12:36 on a cross by Nathan Cotterell in what was the final score of the first half.

Branum was perfect in goal after the early score, making six saves on the night in improving to 6-7 on the season.

UTPB stays on the road Monday, traveling to Newman for a 12 p.m. contest.
