10/17/2013 10:11:00 PM

UTPB Volleyball rallied from behind Tuesday night, coming back to win the final three sets in a 21-25, 25-21, 27-25, 25-23 victory on the road at St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas.

The Falcons fell behind as St. Mary's held a slight advantage in most of the first set, pulling away into the lead 1-0 with the final four points in a 25-21 set victory.

UTPB evened up the contest by mounting a furious rally, coming back from trailing 11-4 to trail by a point at 14-13. The Falcons kept the momentum going to take an 18-17 lead and never trailed through the remainder of the set in a four point win.

Points at the beginning of the third came easier for UTPB, with the Falcons scoring the first four. The fast start came in handy as St. Mary's caught the Falcons three times towards the end of the set but were never able to take the lead before UTPB closed out the third with a pair of points to break a 25-25 tie and hold a 2-1 set lead.

Looking to eliminate the Rattlers in the fourth, UTPB led 7-2 early on but surrendered the lead halfway through the set and trailed by as many as three points at 15-12. The Falcons tied it back at 15-15, and though the teams played the remainder of the set close, UTPB came through at the end on a kill by Keeley Brogdon and a block by Melissa Lusk and Brogdon to seal the 3-1 win.

Lusk was once again a dominant force for the UTPB attack, leading all players with 17 kills on 38 attacks for a.421 hitting percentage. Ryley Carman and Brogdon each added 10 kills in the winning effort. Ariana Gallardo led the team with 26 assists, and Taylor Harmon had a team-high 23 digs.
