Falcons Dominant in 80-48 Win Against Arlington Baptist

The University of Texas of the Permian Basin men's basketball team dominated on the inside Monday night as it scored an 80-48 win against Arlington Baptist at the Falcon Dome in Odessa, Texas.

The Falcons (3-7) out-rebounded ABC 34-18 on the night while shooting at least 60 percent from the floor in each half to shoot 62 percent from the field for the game.

UTPB got out to a quick lead, riding a 10-0 run early in the first half to an 18-4 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the first half. 

Xavier Martin scored eight with Keith Martin and Fabian Sebastian adding seven points apiece as the Falcons took a 45-28 lead into halftime. 

Arlington Baptist (6-8) cut into the UTPB advantage down to 12 early after halftime behind a 10-5 start to the second half, but the Falcons cranked up the pressure again, scoring on each of its next four possessions while forcing a pair of turnovers to quickly push its lead back up to 21 points.

Sebastian led a balanced UTPB offensive attack with 14 points on the night behind a perfect 6-6 shooting effort from the floor. Martin added 12 points to go along with four steals for the game while Martin and Jonathan Uribe each scored 11 points.

Tyler Reynolds dished out a UTPB-season best nine assists in 27 minutes as the Falcons recorded 20 assists, also a team best for the year. 

Johnny Shrake led the Patriots with 13 points, hitting 5-7 field goal attempts. 

UTPB is back in action tomorrow night, traveling to San Angelo for the second of two games this season against Angelo State. The Falcons defeated the Rams 79-67 at home earlier this season.
