Andrew Enriquez's first goal of the season in the 41st minute broke a 0-0 tied and helped the University of Texas of the Permian Basin to its first win of the season, defeating McMurry 1-0 Saturday afternoon at the UTPB Soccer Field.
Enriquez headed a bouncing cross into the box from the left side of the field by 
Javier De Leon into the left side of an uncovered goal to give the Falcons its first lead of the season at 40:26.
UTPB has a number of chances to convert in the first half, nearly scoring just minutes into the game as 
Shelby Sharp's shot from the left side of the field deflected off of the top of the cross bar in the third minute.
Enriquez almost scored earlier in the half, firing a line drive from the middle of the field just over the top of the cross bar, and 
Gary Willis released a similar shot from the right side of the pitch that sailed inches over the net.
UTPB goalkeeper 
Chris Benavides kept McMurry scoreless in the first half, blocking a shot from just in front of the net by Jacob Howdeshell in the 30th minute.
UTPB held an 18-14 shot advantage on the day and were paced by Enriquez who took four attempts.
Benavides made a pair of saves in goal to pick up the shutout, while Neil O'Sullivan stopped three shots in net for the War Hawks.
UTPB returns to action Thursday night, hosting Houston Victoria at home. Kick off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the UTPB Soccer Field.
