The University of Texas of the Permian Basin played one of its most complete matches of the season in defeating Oklahoma Panhandle State 25-15, 25-17 and 25-20.
The Falcons hit a season-best .272 on the night, including .441 in the second set where they tallied 19 total kills.
UTPB broke away from OPSU in the first set, rebounding from an 11 tie to score nine straight and take a 20-11 lead in an eventual 25-15 opening set win.
Jamie Rodell and
Hannah Rebb combined to score 16 of the Falcons 19 kills in the second set, with Rodell tallying all nine of hers on the night and Rebb adding seven, including three kills for the set's final three points in a comfortable eight point set victory.
The Falcons once again dominated in the early portion of a set, taking a 9-1 lead to open the third. UTPB had seven different players score at least one kill in the third set, holding off a small Oklahoma Panhandle rally towards the end of the set to win their first match in straight sets this season.
Rebb and Rodell led UT-Permian Basin with 10 and nine kills, respectively.
Ariana Gallardo recorded a team-best 31 assists on the season while Kelsey Zuckowski led the Falcons with nine digs.
UTPB welcomes Our Lady of the Lake to the Falcon Dome in non-conference action Saturday night. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
