ABILENE – Abilene Christian used a six-run third inning and added five more runs the rest of the way as the Wildcats took an 11-1 victory over UTPB.
Fabian Rivera put the Falcons on the board in the top of the first inning with an RBI single which allowed
Ryne Head to score from third. UTPB picked up two of its five hits in the game in the first inning as Head reached on a bunt single in the frame.
UTPB would keep the lead until Abilene Christian broke the game open with six runs in the third off four hits which was more than enough for a trio of Wildcat pitchers. ACU would add to its lead with single runs in the fourth and sixth innings before putting up three more in the seventh.
Travis Wilcox hit his first triple of the season in the sixth inning while
Tanor Tinley picked up his third double of the season for two of the Falcons' hits.
After 10-straight games on the road, UTPB will finally return home this weekend to host Newman in a double header on Friday starting at 1 p.m. before finishing off the third game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Roden Field. The Newman series will be the start of a nine-game home stand to end the regular season.
