Three players led the Falcons with at least 20 points Saturday afternoon as the University of Texas of the Permian Basin women's basketball team won its second overtime game of the season in a 79--75 win against Oklahoma Christian in Odessa, Texas.

Briannah Matthews and
Taniqua Ards combined for 70 of the team's 79 points, hitting 28-of-45 total shots from the field while making 13-0f-16 attempts from the free throw line.
UTPB (6-2) rallied in the first half after finding itself trailing 9-2 in the game's early minutes, scoring six in a row to pull to within one at 9-8.
The Falcons took their first lead of the game on a Matthews shot with 11 minutes remaining in the half, and led by as many as seven points as Ards completed a layup and hit a free throw after being fouled on the shot to push the lead out to 31-24.
Following an OCU basket on its final possession of the half, King kept the halftime lead at seven by making a jumper from the top of the key as time expired to send UTPB into the half leading 33-26.
Oklahoma Christian (4-5) fought back in the second half, rebounding from trailing by as many as 11 points early on after halftime to cut to within two on back-to-back threes at the 11:14 mark.
The Eagles pulled ahead and held the lead for much of the remainder of the half, leading by four with 2:39 remaining and hit a three with 1:17 left in regulation to lead 67-62.
The Falcons go the game back to a one-possession contest as King hit her only three of the game with 45 seconds left to trail 67-65.
UTPB forced a turnover with 26 seconds left, and following a missed shot and offensive rebound, Matthews went to the line and hit a pair of free throws to send the game into overtime.
Neither team was able to pull away in the first half of the extra session as the lead changed six times in the first 2:22.
Ards hit a shot with 1:01 remaining in OT to give the Falcons a three points 76-73 lead, and King connected on a shot of her own with 18 seconds left after OCU had hit a layup on its prior possession.
The Eagles missed a three with 13 seconds left, and King hit the first of a pair of free throws after grabbing the rebound on the missed shot to help keep the Falcons unbeaten in four home games this season.
King led the Falcons in points for the third straight game and fifth time this season, scoring 27 on 10-of-18 shooting from the field to lead all scorers. Matthews added a season-best 23 points, hitting 9-of-12 shots with a game-best 12 rebounds, and Ards scored 20 points with 11 rebounds, seven of them on offense.
Katy O'Steen led the Eagles with 15 points as Sydney Hill added 14.
UTPB returns to action in two weeks, traveling to Wichita Falls, Texas, for a 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon game against Midwestern State on Dec. 15.
