Falcons Dominate Sul Ross in 105-41Victory

The University of Texas of the Permian Basin women's basketball team opened up their 2012-13 home schedule Thursday night in dominating fashion, defeating Sul Ross 105-41 as five Falcons reached double-digits in scoring.

UTPB wasted little time as Teisha King and Taniqua Ards combined to score the team's first 16 points in taking an 11-point 16-5 lead with 16:45 remaining in the first half. 

The Falcons continued putting up points in bunches, leading by as many as 42 late in the first half before heading into the break leading 61-21. UTPB shot 61.5 percent from the field in the first half, making 24-of-39 attempts while singing 5-of-12 of their 3-pointers as Ards led the team with 15 points and King added 14 of her own.

Ards led all players in the game with 19 points, while King scored 17 on 7-of-8 shooting while leading UTPB with six assists. Angel Reyes also added 17 points on the night behind five 3-pointers, and Brianna Dominguez and Clarissa Davis each scored 10 points off the bench with Davis grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds, including eight offensive boards on the night. 

UTPB finished the contest out-rebounding Sul Ross 62-25 while combining for 17 total steals on the night as five different Falcons recorded at least two steals on the night, led by King with four. 

UT-Permian Basin continues home action this weekend, hosting Incarnate Word Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
