Men's Soccer Drops 5-1 Road Decision at Eastern New Mexico

Jose Anchondo scored a first half equalizer to tie the game at 1-1 going into halftime, but the Falcons allowed four second half goals as The University of Texas of the Permian Basin suffered a 5-1 loss at Eastern New Mexico Monday afternoon in Portales, N.M.

Anchondo tied up the contest in the 25th minute, driving a free kick deep from inside the ENM zone off of the Greyhounds' wall into the net for his second goal of the season. His goal came three and a half minutes after Michael Stewart scored the first goal of the day for Eastern New Mexico at 20:41.

ENM broke the game open in the second half, scoring twice in the span of a minute and a half in the 48th and 50th minutes to take a two goal lead. The Greyhounds used two more goals in the 65th and 74th minutes to double their lead to the final four goal differential.

Anchondo tallied three of the Falcons' five shots on the day and recorded the team's only three shots on goal in the contest.

Craig Branum played all 90 minutes in net for UTPB, making seven saves in goal.

UTPB stays on the road this week, traveling Thursday night to Laredo, Texas, for a 7:30 p.m. match against Texas A&M International.
