10/27/2012 4:22:00 PM

Box Score

Garret Patterson scored his first goal of the season Saturday afternoon, but the damage was already one as three prior Newman goals put the University of Texas of the Permian Basin men's soccer team in too deep of a hole Saturday afternoon as the Falcons ended the 2012 season with a 4-1 loss in Wichita, Kan.

Patterson scored from midfield on a booming kick that cleared the Newman goalkeeper's hands with five minutes remaining in the match to bring the Falcons to within two goals at 3-1.

Matt McConnell put the Jets back up by three at the end of the game, scoring the team's fourth goal of the game with 19 seconds remaining.

Brandon Carlos put Newman ahead on the game's first goal at 30:05 in the first half, and Amadou  Doumbia sent the Jets into halftime with a two goal advantage as he scored 59 seconds before halftime.

The Jets broke the game open early in the second half as Carlos scored his second of the game in the match's 50th minute for a 3-0 lead.

Newman held a 20-14 shot advantage on the day, shooting nine shots on goal to the Falcons' three.
