The University of Texas of the Permian Basin men's soccer controlled first half of Thursday night's game against Oklahoma Christian, scoring twice to take a 2-0 lead into halftime, but the host Eagles tallied a pair in the second half and needed just under two minutes in overtime to score the game-winner, defeating UTPB 3-2 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Tyler Gibson scored his team-leading 6th goal of the season in the sixth minute, taking a cross from
Andrew Enriquez at 5:43 for the game's opening score.
Shelby Sharp added to the UTPB total later in the half, taking a pass down the left side from Gibson to score in the 30th minute and double the UTPB lead to 2-0 going into the half.
Oklahoma Christian evened the match up late in the second half, scoring its first of the game in the 72nd minute on a goal by Cole Rinke.
Sam Guernsey brought the match to a 2-2 tie in the 84th minute, and went on to score his second of the night at 91:53 of the first overtime session to end the OC comeback.
The Falcons conclude their 2012 season this weekend, traveling to Newman for their final contest of the season. Game time in Wichita, Kan., is set for 2:30 p.m.
