Second Half Goals Costly in 5-2 Loss at McMurry

The University of Texas of the Permian Basin men's soccer came back from trailing by a goal, scoring a pair in quick succession Monday afternoon against McMurry, but the War Hawks scored four unanswered to take a 5-2 non-conference contest in Abilene, Texas.

After McMurry scored the game's first goal of the day, Logan Sharp pulled the contest even at 1-1 with his third goal of the season at 23:52.

Tyler Gibson pulled UTPB ahead less than seven minutes later, scoring for the second time in three games on an assist from Jose Anchondo at 30:18 of the first half.

Juan Isacura pulled the War Hawks even just more than a minute later at 31:29 to take the match into half tied at 2-2.

The final 45 minutes belonged to McMurry, as Zachary Luhring pulled it ahead shortly after halftime at 48:55 to lead 3-2. 

Jordan Miller and Colin Lund added goals for the War Hawks later in the half to solidify their advantage.

UTPB held a 21-14 shot advantage on the night, with Sharp and Gary Willis leading all players with four shots.

UTPB stays on the road this week, traveling to Oklahoma Christian. Thursday night's game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
