The University of Texas of the Permian Basin men's soccer was unable to stop the St. Mary's offense, giving up four first half goals in a 5-2 loss Saturday afternoon in San Antonio, Texas.
The Rattlers scored their first goal of the day 12 minutes in on a shot from Anthony Bustos at 11:47.
St. Mary's put the game out of reach before halftime, scoring three goals, two of them by Jack Wolf with a successful penalty kick from Aaron Stares between 32:32 and 38:11 to head to halftime holding a 4-0 lead.
The Falcons gave up a fifth goal in the second half off of the foot of Carrasco Trevino in the 63rd minute.
Jose Anchondo grabbed one back in the 73rd minute, tallying his third goal of the season from 10 yards out at 72:10.
Shelby Sharp added a second UTPB strike in th 81st minute, scoring on a free kick from 25 yards out for his first goal of the season.
UTPB returns home this coming week, playing three games at the UTPB Soccer Field, starting with West Texas A&M Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
