A successful penalty kick from Texas A&M International put the University of Texas of the Permian Basin down 1-0 in the second half, and a late insurance goal downed the Falcons 2-0 Thursday night in Heartland Conference action in Laredo, Texas.

The Dustdevils were awarded the penalty in the 61st minute when a red card was issued to UTPB goalkeeper Craig Branum that Jovany Maclas was able to convert on to give the home team a 1-0 advantage.

TAMIU doubled up its lead late on a goal from Diego Manzano-Cano on the game's final goal in the 86th minute.

Logan Sharp led UTPB with five shots on the night while Tyler Gibson had three shots on goal.

Texas A&M International held a 21-14 shot advantage for the game.

UTPB returns to action this weekend, facing St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
