FALCON VOLLEYBALLERS LOOK TO EXTEND WIN STREAK AT ANGELO STATE INVITATIONAL

After starting the season 0-3, The University of Texas of the Permian Basin has roared back to win its last two matches and will look to continue that win streak when it heads to San Angelo for the Angelo State Invitational.

There, the Falcons will face some of the stiffest competition of the year as they will take on Tarleton State, Southeastern Okla., Angelo State and Abilene Christian. The host Belles are currently 5-0 on the year and host Tarleton State tonight, while Abilene Christian is 4-1 and currently ranked No. 25 nationally. Tarleton State sports a 3-1 mark while Southeastern Okla. is 0-5 thus far.

UTPB will open the tournament with a 10 a.m. matchup with Tarleton State on Friday, followed by a 3 p.m. date with Southeastern Okla. Saturday's matches see the Falcons playing Angelo State at noon and Abilene Christian at 6 p.m.

The Falcons are coming off a 3-0 sweep of the University of the Southwest in their home opener, where they held the Mustangs to under 14 points in all three sets. Alex Genung leads the team offensively 47 kills, averaging 2.61 per set, while Melissa Lusk has totaled 49 kills thus far, averaging 1.58 per set. Lusk is also second on the team in total blocks with 14, collecting three solo and 11 assisted blocks.
