The University of Texas of the Permian Basin will finally get its first taste of competition as they will host Hardin-Simmons in the 2011 season opener at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the UTPB Soccer Complex. For the first time in school history, live stats will be available for free at www.utpbfalcons.com

The two teams squared off last year in the season opener with the Cowboys escaping with a 3-1 victory despite the Falcons taking more shots and having more shots on goal. Tyler Gibson put in the only goal for UTPB at the 48-minute mark, which gave the Falcons a 1-0 edge.

UTPB has 13 players returning from last year's squad that went 3-14, including Gibson, who led the team in scoring with seven goals and three assists, which was also tops on the team.
