The University of Texas of the Permian Basin baseball team snapped its eight-game losing streak with an 11-5 win over St. Edward's to take the third and final game of the series.
Chandler Goode,
Jeremy Miller and
Travis Wilcox each had two hits on the day, while Wilcox had a pair of doubles with three RBI and two runs scored.
Austin Wooldridge also picked up a hit with two runs batted in.
St. Edward's picked up where it did the day before by scoring in the top of the first on an RBI single by Adam Shank to plate Dylan Schuch who reached on a one-out single.
The Falcons would answer in the bottom of the second with two runs on back-to-back sacrifice bunts by
Andy Quiring and
Ryan Giacomini. They would later make it 3-1 in the third when Wilcox doubled to right center to score Miller, who hit a one-out single before advancing to second on a Hilltopper error.
St. Edward's tied the game at three with a pair of runs in the fifth before the Falcons put up three more in the sixth to take the lead for good. The Hilltoppers kept the game close after plating two runs in the seventh, but a five-run eight was more than enough for
Ryan Escarcega, who pitched the final two innings where he gave up just one hit while striking out three.
The Falcons improved to 5-9 on the year and now sport a 3-6 league mark.
