St. Edward's out-scored the University of Texas of the Permian Basin baseball team 24-1 in a double header, winning the first game 9-0 before taking a 15-1 victory in the second.

In the first game, the Hilltoppers took an early 1-0 lead when Taylor Johnson hit an RBI single to center, plating Collin Elmore, who led off the inning with a single through the left side. Johnson would go 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

The score would stay that way until the fourth when St. Edward's busted out for six runs off four hits and took advantage of four Falcon errors. UTPB would finish with five miscues defensively in the game. The scoring would continue for the Hilltoppers as they plated single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

St. Edward's put up 17 hits on the board – all of which were singles, while UTPB had five, including a double by Ryan Giacomini.

The Falcons got on the board quickly in the second game, scoring a run in the bottom of the first when Travis Wilcox singled in Chandler Goode, who led off the inning with a single up the middle.

The lead wouldn't last long as St. Edward's tied the game in the second before taking the lead in the third a single run. The Hilltoppers would go on to score five more in the fourth, three more in the sixth and five more in the seventh.

St. Edward's pounded out 16 hits and like the first game, all but four were singles. UTPB had its troubles in the field again with three more errors which led to six unearned runs. Stephen Johnson pitched all seven innings for the Hilltoppers, allowing one run off nine hits while striking out three.

UTPB fell to 4-9 on the year and 2-6 in Heartland Conference play, while St. Edward's moved to 5-3 overall and 5-0 in league play. The two teams will play the final game of the series tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Roden Field.
