Madison Turner knocked down six three-pointers en route to a team-high 18 points to lead The University of Texas of the Permian Basin to a 66-41 victory over Sul Ross.
As a team, the Falcons tied a season-high with 12 three-point baskets for the fourth time this year.
UTPB broke open an 11-11 tie with an 11-0 run to lead 22-11 with 9:01 to go. During the scoreless stretch for the Lobos, the Falcons knocked down three three-pointers, two of which came from
Louis Crane. Sul Ross would come within six on two different occasions late in the first half, but with the Falcons leading 29-20 with 15 seconds to play, Turner closed out the first half by draining a three-pointer at the buzzer. UTPB went into halftime with a 32-20 advantage.
The Falcons would keep a double-digit lead the entire second half and closed out the final 4:48 of the contest with a 10-2 run as they improved to 5-6 on the year and picked up their second victory at home.
Erik Martin put in 14 points while
Ke'Andre Derrick added 10. As a team, UTPB shot 44.4 percent from the field, hitting 12-of-27 shots in both the first and second half.
UTPB will be off until Jan. 2 when the Falcons host Angelo State at 7 p.m. in the Falcon Dome.
