ARKANSAS-FORT SMITH TOO MUCH FOR VOLLEYBALL TEAM

FORT SMITH, Ark. – Arkansas-Fort Smith used an offensive one-two punch as the Lions took a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-19) win over The University of Texas of the Permian Basin volleyball team. 
 
Fabiane Nass and Heide Luks combined for 28 of the Lions' 49 kills with Nass leading the way with 15 as Arkansas-Fort Smith improved to 5-1 in Heartland Conference play and 18-5 overall.  It hit nearly .297 for the match and picked up 70 digs in handing the Falcons their fourth conference loss of the season. 
 
The Lions led the entire match until a kill by Jamie Rodell in the third set gave the Falcons an 8-7 edge.  A hitting error by the Lions extended UTPB's lead to 11-8 until a kill by Luks tied the set at 13 before an error by the Falcons gave Arkansas-Fort Smith a 14-13 lead it would not lose the rest of the way. 
 
Rodell led the Falcons offensively with 10 kills with just two errors, while Danae Eckart continues to lead the conference in digs as she picked up 22 for the match. 
 
The Falcons will remain on the road as they will step out of conference play to take on Central Oklahoma at 1 p.m. in Edmond, Okla.
