LAS VEGAS, N.M. – New Mexico Highlands put in eight second-half goals, led by Julissa Rodriguez, who scored four times, including three in the final period as it took a 9-1 victory over The University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
Highlands dominated the Falcons offensively with 47 shots, 30 of which were on goal, including 17 by Rodriguez. Thirteen of her attempts were on goal as it improved to 4-6 on the year.
Eleven different players took at least one shot for the Cowgirls while UTPB was only able to get four total attempts off, three on goal.
Hannah Dozier was a bright spot for the Falcon offense as she scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season at the 62
nd minute.
Alexis Frueh stopped 12 shots in goal for the Falcons, while
Victoria Ramirez tallied nine.
The Falcons fell to 1-9 on the year and will step back into Heartland Conference play when they head to San Antonio to take on St. Mary's next Tuesday.
