VICTORIA – Adrian Mendoza scored just two minutes into the match, while Stiven Ospina put in an insurance goal with six minutes left to play as Houston-Victoria took a 2-0 non-conference win over The University of Texas of the Permian Basin. 
 
The Jaguars out-shot UTPB 12-9, but the Falcons got seven shots on goal, while Houston-victoria had six.  Steven Smith and Logan Sharp both had two shots on goal, while Shelby Sharp, Tyler Gibson and Austin James had the other three attempts. 
 
Craig Branum had four saves on the afternoon between the posts for UTPB as the Falcons fell to 3-6 on the year. The Falcons will head to Canyon on Friday to take on West Texas A&M at 7 p.m.
