Dylan Slaughter scored the biggest goal of the 2011 season as his bicycle kick found the back of the net in double overtime to lift The University of Texas of the Permian Basin to a 2-1 victory over Newman.

Slaughter's heroics came at the 116th minute of the contest – just over three –and-a-half minutes left in the final period as he booted in a cross from Tyler Gibson from the middle of the box.  The victory evened the Falcons' Heartland Conference record at 2-2 on the year.

UTPB dominated the Jets offensively, out-shooting them 29-10, including 14-6 in shots on goal.  Gibson, although he didn't score, came close on numerous occasions as he took a match-high 13 shots, six of which were on goal.

Newman got on the board first when Jordan Saybounkham one-timed a deflection just outside the mouth of the goal at the eight minute mark, giving the Jets the early lead.  They would keep the lead through the first half, but an unassisted goal by Logan Sharp tied the contest at one.  Sharp dribbled past a defender in the middle of the box and his left-footed shot found the bottom right corner of the net.

Offense came at a premium for Newman as it took just three shots in the second half and just one in each overtime period.  Craig Branum had five saves on the night as he improved to 3-5 on the season.  UTPB is now 4-8 overall and will take on Northeastern State Sunday at 1 p.m. at the UTPB Soccer Field.
