AUSTIN – Janae Averett scored a goal with less than three minutes into the match and the Hilltopper defense allowed just one shot by the University of Texas of the Permian Basin as St. Edward's took a 2-0 win over the Falcons.
Averett received a cross inside the penalty box from Rachel Murray and one-timed it from 10-yeards out to give St. Edward's the early lead. Murray would extend the Hilltopper lead in the second half when she took a through pass from Olivia Collado at the 82:30 mark to give them a 2-0 advantage.
The Falcon offense never got on track as they were unable to get a shot off on goal and Hannah Dozier had the team's only shot that was wide. The duo of Victoria Ramirez and Alexis Frueh combining to make six saves. Ramirez stopped two shots in the first half, while Frueh had four in the second.
The Falcons finished their season with a 4-12-1 overall record and 1-8 in Heartland Conference play.
